Debra Malbin is a well respected executive recruiter, career coach and student advocate for the fashion industry.
Following her own highly successful career in fashion as a buyer at Bloomingdales, Debra then went to Oxford Industries. She was the Group President of a men's branded division, as well as, a women's private label business.
Debra founded her own executive recruitment firm, Debra Malbin Associates (DMA) in 1996. DMA facilitates companies in finding the right talent for the organizations while helping the most talented senior level candidates reach their career goals.
DMA does not simply fill jobs - it creates successful partnerships between an esteemed client list and the fashion industry's most discriminating candidates, with a focus on middle and upper level management.
Debra brings perspective and approach to her work. Her past experience in retail and wholesale, allows her to understand business needs, cultural nuances and candidate core competencies and talents.
Upon successful completion of the Coaching Program of Studies at New York University, she coaches candidates at all levels - from college students to C-Suite executives, guiding them in their career growth and professional development. Debra is a highly sought motivational speaker at colleges and industry events.
Apart from her business endeavors, Debra has spent countless hours giving back to the industry through her philanthropic work. She has devoted over 25 years to the YMA Fashion Scholarship Fund, an international non-profit organization comprised of influential fashion industry members. As a co-President, Scholarship Chair and long-time member of the Board of Directors, Debra developed and executed ground-breaking programs that help build students' futures and allow companies direct access to amazing young talent. Through her efforts, hundreds of students have entered the fashion industry and are now vital contributors to the success of their employers.
